MedChart, a fast growing, Toronto-based start-up from the University of Toronto was featured on the cover of the September 2016 edition of Canadian Healthcare Technology magazine. Techna has been working with MedChart since early 2016 to help connect them with key opinion leaders at UHN.

medchartBased on the personal experiences of co-founders James Bateman and Derrick Chow, MedChart was created to empower patients to take ownership of their medical records. MedChart’s service helps patients avoid the arduous processes required to gain access to their own medical records. Once a patient has given their consent, MedChart is able to collect and consolidate a patient’s medical records from any hospital, clinic or paramedical centre, with ownership of medical records resting securely with the patient. Patients can choose what information, if any, they want to share with family members, healthcare providers and other trusted members of their circle of care. MedChart also offers a two-click process that patients can use to officially amend their medical records should any errors be found.

When asked about Canadian Healthcare Technology magazine, Bateman and Chow said, “we are honoured to have MedChart featured. We believe in our platform’s potential to help change the health information technology landscape in Canada, and are excited to continue working with our partners and supporters, including the Techna Institute at UHN, MaRS, and ventureLAB, to deliver our service to patients and caregivers across the country.”
