Shailaja Sajja, MASc

Prior to joining QIPCM at TECHNA, Shailaja worked as a research engineer at Sunnybrook Research Institute with Dr. Mark Ruschin and his team of colleagues comprised of medical physicist, radiation oncologist, imaging scientists and scientists at Elekta, Sweden. During her time there, she collaboratively wrote a review on dual energy cone beam CT for radiotherapy application and also developed a MATLAB based practical workflow for DE-CBCT for improved image guidance in brain radiotherapy (SPIE medical imaging 2019) applications.

Prior to Sunnybrook, she worked with the Joint Department of Medical Imaging, UHN under the supervision of Dr. Narinder Paul alongside Carestream health scientists, technologists and other colleagues on the pre-commercial  development of x-ray based technologies (dual energy and digital tomosynthesis) for thoracic diseases in critically ill patients. Her role consisted of designing experiments, preparation and presentation of conference materials, grant and vision development. Her work at UHN has been recognized with certificate of merits from Radiological Society of North America, and cum laude at European Society of Thoracic Imaging.

Prior to working at hospitals, Shailaja obtained a MASc degree in electrical engineering from University of Waterloo on development of mathematical models of shape memory alloys for control applications. She was also selected to  participate in the internship program at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories in Cambridge, Massachusetts on development of hysteresis models for scanning magnets in particle therapy systems. In her spare time, she pursues acrylic painting on a variety of whimsical subjects.
