Michael Velec, Ph.D., M.R.T.(T.)

Dr. Michael Velec graduated with a B.Sc. in Medical Radiation Sciences from the University of Toronto in 2006. He then began clinic practice as a staff Radiation Therapist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. In 2014 he completed his Ph.D. at the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the TECHNA Institute, University Health Network. Since 2016 Dr. Velec has been a Radiation Therapist-Clinician Scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, where he focuses on translating novel radiotherapy techniques and strategies into the clinic setting.

Dr. Velec has research interests in deformable image registration and dose accumulation for the applications of adaptive radiation therapy and understanding clinical dose-response relationships. Current projects also include the development of new models of care in radiation therapy that enable precision medicine.
